Samuel W. Anderson, 93, passed away Monday evening, April 9, 2018, in the VA Northern Indiana Healthcare. He was born in Alexandria on September 7, 1925, the son of the late Lee Anderson.
Mr. Anderson served in the Navy in World War II. He married Vera Garrett on December 31, 1947. She preceded him in death on April 26, 2012.
Sam moved to Upland from Fairfield Glade, Tennessee. He was employed with Warner Gear for 30 years before his retirement. He attended Upland Community Church.
Survivors include a son, David (Debra) Anderson, Hartford City; a daughter, Diann (Steve) Wellman, Hartford City; four grandchildren, Jonathan Schuiteman, Jeremy (Renee) Schuiteman, Brent (Jaynie) Anderson, and Brooke Anderson; and four great grandchildren, Cameron Schuiteman, Sophie Schuiteman, Emersyn Schuiteman, and Remi Anderson.
In addition to his father and wife, he was preceded in death by 10 siblings.
Visitation will be from 4-7pm, Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, Jones-Smith Chapel, 259 N. Main St., Upland, Indiana, 46989. Graveside Service and interment with Military Rites will be at 11:00 am, Friday, April 13, 2018, in Van Buren Cemetery, Van Buren. Procession will meet at 10:00 am at the funeral home in Upland.
