Samantha K. “Sammie” Shively, age 31, of Mt. Etna, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at 1:49 am at her home. She graduated from Huntington North High School in 2005 and was attending Colorado Technical Institute studying criminal justice. She had worked for the United Way and Huntington Foundation. She enjoyed scrapbooking, coloring, board games and music.
Sammie was born February 17, 1987, in Grand Rapids, MI., the daughter of Samuel Leroy and Carman Rae (Ruse) Shively. They survive in Mt. Etna. On May 7, 2016 she married her beloved husband Christopher Tackett in Huntington and he survives in Mt. Etna. Also surviving are 2 sons Gabriel Crago and Kamdyn Shively both of Mt. Etna, 5 sisters Candy (Shay) Brickley, Betty Leon, Sherry (Leigh) Shively-Walden, Sabrina (Andrew) Gilbert and Sarah Tome all of Huntington, 10 nieces and nephews and 4 great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 9 from 5-7 pm at Deal-Rice Funeral Home- Huntington Chapel preceding the 7:00 pm funeral at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers preferred memorials are to the family to assist with funeral expenses c/o Deal-Rice Funeral Home, 338 E. Washington St., Huntington, IN 46750.
