S. Michael “Mike” Horner

S. Michael “Mike” Horner, age 79 of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at home.

Mike was born on December 14, 1941 in Greensburg, Indiana the son of the late Joseph and Alice (Motsch) Horner.  He worked in maintenance at Singer Controls in North Manchester and in production at Chrysler Corporation until his retirement.

Mike loved to play music and he could play anything.  He was a bass and keyboard player in “Chuck and the Playboys”, the “Roadrunners” and several other bands.  He also loved animals especially Old English Sheepdogs.

He is survived by his life companion, Doris O’Dell of Marion; a son, Chris (Kim) Chinchak of Monroe; three daughters, Linda Horn of Van Buren, Amy (Chad) Clark of Monroe, and Kendra (Mike) Swisher of Greentown; a brother, Joseph B. (Sylvia) Horner of Fortville; a sister, Patricia A. Hale of Upland; 8 grandchildren, Brittney (Jeffrey) Williams, Megan (Patrick) Horn, Braden Swisher, Kelton Swisher, Emma Chinchak, Nicholas Chinchak, Faith Clark and Caleb Clark; and 3 great-grandchildren, TayVeon Banks, and Jeffrey and Bri’Anna Williams.

He was also preceded in death by a brother and his wife, Robert and Linda Horner; a nephew, Christopher King; and his step-mother, Ruth Horner.

Friends and family may call from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.  Funeral Services will begin at noon with Pastor Greg Horner officiating.

Burial will follow funeral services in Estates of Serenity Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
