Ruth M. Emery, 86 of Huntington passed away at 6:20 pm on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Heritage of Huntington. Ruth was a 1949 graduate of Kokomo High School. She played softball with the Highway Queens Traveling Softball Team and won several championships. She had worked as a printing press operator and then Supervisor at Noll Printing/Our Sunday Visitor for 37 years before her retirement in 1993. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Ruth enjoyed all kinds of sports including bowling and golf.
Ruth was born on February 7, 1931 in Kokomo, the daughter of George W. and Nina M. (Williams) Emery.
Survivors include a brother: Vernon (Coke) Emery of Kokomo; a niece: Carol (Frank) Ortman of Kokomo, who was honored to help Ruth throughout her life; three nephews: Vernon Jr. (Peg) Emery, Jim (Joyce) Alexander and Jeff (Sandy) Emery all of Kokomo and several great and great, great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and brother in law: Wanita (Charles) Alexander and a close friend (of 62 years): Marie Campbell.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 10:00 am at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 840 Cherry Street, Huntington, Indiana. There will be one hour of visitation from 9:00 am – 10:00 am prior to the services at the church with Father Silvino Ndayambaje officiating.
Interment will be at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
