Ruth Isabelle Barnett, 98, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 6:37 pm, Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester. She was born August 29, 1921 in Wabash County, Indiana to Henry and Rosa K. (Hipskind) Stouffer.
Ruth was a 1939 graduate of Linlawn High School. She married L. Milton “Bud” Barnett in Wabash County on August 9, 1941; he died May 3, 2007. Ruth retired from First National Bank in Wabash after 23 years. She was a member of the Wabash Friends Church. Ruth was a Wabash Co. Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer many years. She enjoyed cross stitching, playing scrabble, making craker jack and having cracker jack parties, pie baking, and traveling to Minnesota, with her husband Bud, in the fall.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan B. Younce of Warsaw, Indiana, two grandchildren, Michael R. (Ann Marie) Younce of Superior, Colorado, and Emily B. (Ryan) Kennedy of Valparaiso, Indiana, four great-grandchildren, Alexandra Younce and Matthew Younce, both of Superior, and Cade Kennedy and Ian Kennedy, both of Valparaiso, and her sister, Frances Stewart, of Monon, Indiana. She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Judy Barnett, two brothers, Joe Stouffer and Robert Stouffer, and three sisters, Katherine Vrooman, Elizabeth Miller, and Alice Petry.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, September 16, 2019 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with David Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 2-6pm Sunday, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Wabash Friends Church.
