Ruth Hauser

Ruth Hauser, 94, of North Manchester, Indiana, passed peacefully in her sleep at 5:55 am, Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Timbercrest Healthcare Center in North Manchester. She was born on January 5, 1927, in Lansing, Michigan, to Russian immigrant parents, Stephan and Lena (Strong) Krasutzky. She married Reinhardt Hauser on May 12, 1950, in Lansing Michigan. They raised their children on a pretty little farm in Michigan and later in North Manchester, where Reinhardt died on December 4, 1976.

Ruth was a 1944 graduate of Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns, Michigan. Ruth had worked for the Laingsburg Community Schools in Laingsburg, Michigan, as Business Manager/Financial Secretary, before moving to Indiana with her family in 1966. She retired from Manchester College in 1989, where she had been a secretary in the Registrar’s Office for 22 years. Ruth was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Manchester, the Historical Society, Master Gardeners, and the Shepherd’s Center. In her final years she resided in Timbercrest Retirement Community.

She is survived by two children, Paul (Cathy) Hauser of Naples, Florida, and Patricia (John Moses) Joseph of McClellanville, South Carolina, seven grandchildren, Charlie Hauser of Santa Monica, California, Libby Hauser of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Ben Hauser of Los Angeles, California, Gabriel (Andrea) Joseph of Austin, Texas, Nikolai (Jessica) Joseph of Takoma Park, Maryland, Alex (Malerie) Joseph of Austin, Texas, and Will (Nola) Moses of Albuquerque, New Mexico, eight great-grandchildren, Jack Joseph, Acee Joseph, Hatcher Joseph, Marcus Joseph, Angel Joseph, Christiano Joseph, Logan Moses, and Evelyn Moses, and a sister, Annie Brown of Arkansas, and also several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Private family services will be held in Lansing, Michigan at a later date. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Lansing.
