Russell Everly King

Russell Everly King, 94, of Marion, passed away at 7:00 pm on Friday, February 18, 2022, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Marion on January 29, 1928, to Harry and Vivian (Parish) King. On January 27, 1951, he married the love of his life, Roberta Ann Rudicel, and she preceded him in death on February 4, 2020.

Russell graduated from Van Buren High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He achieved the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged.

Following his military service, Russell had worked at Liniger’s in Marion as well as several other metal shops. He was a member of the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers, Local 20. Russell was also a talented singer as a member of the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. Barbershop Quartet Group for several years. He sang in the Son’s of Harmony Chorus. Russell liked boating and owned a sailboat for several years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially tending to his wooded property with his bulldozer and spending time by his pond. He liked traveling throughout the country and had been on the Honor Flight. Russell was an avid reader and loved studying history. He liked watching old westerns on TV. More than anything, Russell loved the long life he was blessed with, especially seeing his family grow over the years.

Survivors include his daughters, Donna (Mike) Henderson of Marion, Joanna Gephart of Marion, and Marita King of Van Buren; son, Victor (Pam) King of Matthews; granddaughters, Miranda (Jason) Leonard of Gas City, Delaney King of Marion, Trisha (Melvin) Bush of Marion, Erin Smith of Noblesville, and Christie (Noah) Farmer of Gas City; grandsons, Morgan King of Matthews, Cameron (Billie) King of Marion, Shawn Gephart of Upland, Christopher (Tina) Beckett of MD, and Chad (Jessica) Henderson of Jonesboro; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-granddaughters; sister, Ruth Love of Marion; sister-in-law, Delores Henderson of Marion; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents and loving wife, Russell was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Annalysa McMillan; brother-in-law, Gerald Rudicel; sisters-in-law, Fern Louise Davison, Mary Alford, and Betty Calhoun.

The family will receive visitors from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main Street, Gas City, IN.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Russell’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at the funeral home. Pastor Ray Kughen will be officiating with burial following at Estates of Serenity.
