Russell E. “Rusty” Snapp

Russell E. “Rusty” Snapp, age 70 of Marion, went peacefully to be with the Lord on February 25, 2022 at Ball Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with COVID. 

Russell was born in Marion, Indiana on March 15, 1951 to the late Calvin Snapp and Marcella (Snapp) Goodpaster. 

Russell graduated from Marion High School.  He always worked hard to provide for his family working two and three jobs at a time.  He proudly served as a volunteer firefighter with Center Township for 12 years, holding the position of Assistant Chief for 2 years.  He owned his own building maintenance company, Custodial Plus for 12 years.  His short-term employment with Kmart turned into 17 years.  He was also a certified locksmith.  He retired after 21 years as a maintenance supervisor for many apartment complexes in Marion, Kokomo, and Anderson.  He was also involved with Neighborhood Crime Watch.

Russell put God first in his life.  He devoted time to reading his Bible every day.  He was a man of many great testimonies.  His life was never ordinary.  He loved his children dearly, and always looked forward to spending time with his girls.  He enjoyed watching NASCAR and Perry Mason.  He loved listening to music, cooking holiday dinners for the family, and cuddling up with his cat.

He will be missed by his daughters, Cynthia (Shawn Jackson) of Marion and Catherine (Ron Ways) of Marion; half-brother, Jim (Tina) Goodpaster and family of Marion; uncle, Sam (Beverly) Snapp of Marion; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Woolsey; a brother, Donald Snapp; and his beloved cat, Justice.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.  Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 3 in the funeral home with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.
