Russell DeWitt Westfall

Russell DeWitt Westfall, 86, Van Buren, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Marion Health in Marion. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on January 14, 1936, to Earl and Edith (Bradford) Westfall. On July 1, 1956, he married the love of his life, Judy C. Edwards, in Landess, Indiana.

Russell was a member of Landess Christian Church and later attended Grace Community Church. He graduated from Van Buren High School in 1954. Russell worked in the farming industry most of his life in the Van Buren area. He was a farmer, a semi driver for Sutter’s Dairy, a school bus driver for Eastbrook Community Schools, a field representative with the dairy division (AMPI/Morning Glory Farms/Foremost Farms), and a state dairy inspector with the Indiana State Board of Animal Health.

Survivors include his wife of nearly sixty-six years, Judy Westfall; three children, George (Jenny) Westfall, Elizabeth (Gary) Duckwall, and Susan (Steven Kile) Westfall-Kile; grandchildren, Meagan Westfall, Zachary (Anna) Westfall, Bethany (Eric) Hoffman, Emily (Chris) Davis, Christopher (Halee) Duckwall, Jeffrey Duckwall, Julia Kile, Olivia Kile, and Sara Kile; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Evelynn, and Bearett Smith; Alexis, Addilyn, Keagan, Bailey, and Piper Westfall; Ella, Adalyn, and Archer Hoffman; Amelia and Isabella Davis; Briella and Brian Duckwall; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Bonnie (Lowell) Johnson, Robert (Edith) Westfall, Kenneth (Rose Marie) Westfall, and Joan (Charles) Bryant.

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022, as well as 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

A funeral service to celebrate Russell’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the funeral home. Pastor Tom Mansbarger will be officiating with burial following at Gardens of Memory.
