Ronald Wayne Hamaker

A strong in faith Christian man entered Heaven this week.

Ronald Wayne Hamaker, age 88, of Marion passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis.

Ronald was born on August 5, 1931 in Marion, Indiana the son of the late Russell and Thelma (Dickensheet) Hamaker. He married Marcia Thorne on July 30, 1950.

Ronald was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War as a 2nd Lieutenant. He then earned his Masters Degree and taught at Thomas Jefferson, was a principal at Kendall Elementary, and then was an assistant superintendent at Marion Community Schools until his retirement.

Ronald was a very active member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Marion and a former member of Arbor Trace Golf and Metro Exchange Club. He enjoyed golfing, working in his yard, and reading.

Ronald was a loving husband of 69 years to Marcia Hamaker, a devoted father to David Hamaker (deceased) and Ronda Strausbaugh of Noblesville. He was a caring, supportive grandfather to Nick Strausbaugh (wife, Jessica Strausbaugh) and Kristen Strausbaugh of Noblesville and a fun loving great grandfather to Penny Strausbaugh, age 7, Tommy Strausbaugh, Age 5, and Maggie Strausbaugh, age 2.

As per Ronald’s wishes, cremation will take place with a private burial in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
