Ronald J. Martin, 78, of Swayzee, passed away at 7:00 pm on Monday, March 6, 2023, in his home. He was born in Swayzee, Indiana, on Wednesday, June 14, 1944, to Wayne and Doris (Dailey) Martin. On July 31, 1992, he married his loving bride, Patty Barger, and she survives.
Ronald graduated from Swayzee High School and was a fork truck operator for 37 years with Dana until his retirement. Ronald was a loved member of the community. He loved his International Harvester tractors, tinkering outside in his beloved barn, farming, and “raising cain”. He also loved his dog, Sadie, and he loved going to breakfast in Amboy with all of his friends. “One of these days you’re gonna thank me for the gravel in your gut and the spit in your eye.”
In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Lisa Martin, Tracie Jones, Jay (Lorna) Martin, Jim Ringhiser, Annette (Chris Woody), and Brandy (Aaron) Bragg; grandchildren, Adam Martin, Josh (Sicilia) Jones, Shelby Shaw, Sara Martin, Abby (CJ) Gause, Zach Diskey, Jessie Woody, Kory Ringhiser, Cody Ringhiser, Mason Diskey, Olivia Diskey, and Alex Diskey; great-grandchildren, Korilynn, Andrew, Olivia, Parker, Dream, Blaze, Carmen, Ayden, Madalyn, Memphis, Landon, Ensley, and Ma’Laya; and many loved friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lisa Ringhiser; sister, Barbara Neal; and brother, Buddy Martin.
The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
