Ronald Eugene “Woody” Woodmansee

Ronald Eugene “Woody” Woodmansee, age 77, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019 surrounded by family at the Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

Ronald was born May 18, 1942 in Marion, Indiana the son of the late William E. “Gene” and Nancy Alice (Myer) Woodmansee.  He grew up in Swayzee and was a 1960 graduate of Swayzee High School.  He enjoyed participating in the 4H Automotive and Soil Judging.  He was part of the National judging in Oklahoma in 1960.

He grew up in farming and also worked at Chrysler, owned Ashland Service Station in Swayzee for five years and also owned a trophy shop.  He was a water superintendant for the Town of Swayzee and was on the Swayzee Civil Defense.  Ronald also was a bus driver for 10 years at Oak Hill School Corporation and 10 years at Marion Community Schools.  He had also been a semi driver for 20 years and drag raced for 17 years at Bunker Hill.  Ronald enjoyed racing, classic cars, family get-togethers and playing cards.

He loved reminiscing and sharing old times and he wrote many articles for the Chronicle Tribune called “Woody’s Memories” from 2009 to 2011.  Just before retiring, he started Woody’s Karaoke and DJ.  He loved singing and listening to others singing their favorite songs.  He played all over Grant County for the past 18 years.

He is survived by sons, Tony Woodmansee (Amber) of Marion, Troy Woodmansee of Tennessee and Steve Caudill (Bridget) of Marion; daughter, Cathy Clay (Darren) of Marion; two brothers, Rex Woodmansee (Valerie) of Converse and Randy Woodmansee of Scottsville, Kentucky; 14 grandchildren; niece, Rhonda Thomas of Kokomo; and nephews, Eric Woodmansee (Briean) of Gas City and Ashton Armfield of Wabash.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tracy Tedesco.

Friends and family may call from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Swayzee United Methodist Church, 101 W. Madison Street, Swayzee, Indiana.  Memorial Services will begin at 4:00 p.m.
