Roderick B. Goebel, 80, Marion, died at 4:40 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at Marion Rehabilitation and Assisted Living. He was born in Huntington, Indiana, to the late Charles and Nellie (Sprinkle) Goebel, Sr. He married Carolyn Cayot on October 9, 1956, and she survives.
Roderick worked in Inventory for GM for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, mowing his yard, and cleaning his car.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; children, Debbie (Randall) Planck, South Elgin, Illinois, Delaine (James) Gerstbauer, Bloomington, Indiana, and Danette (John) Byrd, Swayzee, Indiana; grandchildren, Dr. Ryan (Kendl) Planck, Jacob (Mallory) Planck, Corbin Byrd, and Kyle Byrd; and great-grandson, Kellan Planck.
In addition to his parents, Roderick was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Goebel, Jr., and sister, Wanda Eltzroth.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Temple Congregational Church, 1006 N. Western Ave., Marion, IN. Funeral Services will begin at 12 noon with Pastor Jeff Jahn officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.
