Robert G. Coffield

Robert G. Coffield, 86, a lifetime resident of Montpelier, IN, passed away at 2:20 PM on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Heritage Pointe in Warren, IN., after having Melanoma.  He was born on Saturday, September 26, 1931, in Montpelier, IN.  He married Janet L. Layman on Saturday, November 17, 1951 in Montpelier. The two were married at the funeral home by the late H.T. Walker.

 

Bob was a former sales representative for Greif Brothers in Albany; where he retired in 1996.  He also worked for Indiana Box in Montpelier and Indiana Corrugated in Warren. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the Millard-Brown American Legion Post #156; where he served as past commander, the 40-8, Voiture 988 and Montpelier Pony and Saddle Club. He and his wife Janet attend the First Baptist Church, Montpelier and have one son, Jimmy. Bob was a 38 year member of the Montpelier Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as past assistant chief. He enjoyed fishing and gardening in his spare time. He has been associated with the Walker & Glancy Funeral Home since the 1950’s.

 

Survivors: Wife – Janet L. (Layman) Coffield, Montpelier, IN, Son – James (Companion, Kristi Eppard) Coffield, Montpelier, IN,  Brother – Max Coffield, Bluffton, IN, Brother – Jay Coffield, Huntington, IN, Brother – Johnny Roberts, Warsaw, IN, Sister – Mrs. Roger (Mary Kay) Strine, Hartford City, IN.  He was preceded in death by his parents: Father – Ralph W. Coffield and Mother – Mary E. (Bedwell) Coffield.

 

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home 109 W. Windsor St. Montpelier on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

 

A service to celebrate his life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 with Pastor Jeremy Cowin officiating.  Interment will follow in the Gardens of Memory in Marion.
