Richard W. Whybrew

Richard W. Whybrew, 66, of rural Peru, Indiana, died while horseback riding, in southern Ohio, on Sunday, October 7, 2018. He was born September 28, 1952 in Logansport, Indiana to Merritt and Catherine “Kitty” (Sommers) Whybrew.

Richard was a 1971 graduate of Maconaquah High School, and received his Bachelors degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. He was a US Army veteran. He married Cathy Carrothers at the Center Chapel Brethren Church on June 22, 1974. Richard worked for Delphi in Kokomo, retiring after 29 years. He was a member of the Walk by Faith Community Church in Roann. Richard was a horse enthusiast, and was a member of the Michigan Trail Riders Association, the Salamonie Saddle Club, and was the Superintendent of the Miami County 4-H Horse Barn. He also enjoyed hunting and especially loved his family.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Whybrew of Peru; three children, Nichole (Tracy) Tredway of Rochester, Indiana, Amanda (Matt) Schuler of Wabash, Indiana, and Thomas Whybrew of Roann, Indiana; mother, Catherine “Kitty” Whybrew of Bunker Hill, Indiana; nine grandchildren, one great grandchild; sisters and brother, Cindy (David) Lorenz and Ruth Ellen (James) Winkler, both of Peru, Scott (Gerri) Whybrew of Empire, Michigan, and Tania (Jeff) DeHaven of Peru. He was preceded in death by father, Merritt Whybrew.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, October 15, 2018 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Brad Eckerley officiating. Friends may call 2-6pm Sunday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Mexico, Indiana at a later date.

Preferred memorial is Wabash County 4-H.
