Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Graveside services and burial will be held in Gardens of Memory in Huntington County at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2018 with Pastor Gus Hacker officiating.

Richard was born on July 17, 1950 in Huntington, the son of Lloyd E. and Elizabeth (Hedrick) McDaniel. He graduated from Huntington High School in 1968 and married Gerda Ellen Seybold on August 2, 1969 in Mt. Etna. Richard farmed in Polk and Wayne Townships; in 1998, he began working as a tanker driver for Johnson Petroleum in Huntington. He enjoyed watching Purdue sports and Indianapolis Colts football and he loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Gerda McDaniel of Huntington, sons Andrew (Annette) McDaniel of Indianapolis and Seth (Rachel) McDaniel of Lafayette, a daughter, Amy (Daniel) Johns of Huntington, a sister, Barbara Jane Straley of Warren, and seven grandchildren, Olivia, Ethan, Isaac, Nolan, Claire, Carly, and Mallory. His parents and a sister, Sallie Hartle, precede him in death.
