Richard Duane Unger

Richard Duane Unger, 95, of rural Wabash, Indiana, died at 10:00 am, Sunday, November 14, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 21, 1926, in Wabash, Indiana, to Richard and Frances (Wilson) Unger.

Richard married Barbara L. Nelson at the Richvalley United Methodist Church on July 28, 1946; she died June 15, 2007. He was a retired farmer and had also worked at the Richvalley Elevator. He was a member of the Richvalley United Methodist Church for 83 years, and was their oldest living member. He lived his entire life within a two mile radius of Richvalley, and Unger Acres had been his residence since 1946. Richard loved his family and his church. He was an avid Cubs and Purdue Boilermaker fan. He enjoyed playing euchre with his family and was the last member of his euchre club.

He is survived by four children, Cindi Price and Pam (Ben) Smith, both of Wabash, Randy Neil Unger of Woodward, Oklahoma, and R. Lindy (Tammy) Unger of Wabash, 12 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Richvalley United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jack Suits officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4-8 pm Friday, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Preferred memorial is Richvalley United Methodist Church.
