Richard Duane Frantz, 78, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, formerly of North Manchester, Indiana, died at 8:00 am, Monday, June 19, 2023, at his home. He was born on February 9, 1945, in Whitley County, Indiana, to Richard Dale and Betty (Knoop) Frantz.
Richard worked at Olingers Bowling Alley, Manchester Builders and Manchester Foundry, all of North Manchester, and Cyclone Seeder in Urbana. He was a member of the North Manchester United Methodist Church. Richard was an avid bowler, and won every trophy possible in the North Manchester community bowling leagues. He also enjoyed walking, swimming at the Manchester Swimming pool, Pizza Hut and Kentucky Fried Chicken buffets, and loved people. He was an avid Chicago Bears Fan since the age of 7, when he started listening to games on his radio .
He is survived by sisters and brother, Janet Bircheff, Kevin (Nancy) Frantz, and Karen (Ralfs) Ravovskis, all of Fort Wayne, and Diana Frantz of Silver Lake, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law Bart Bircheff, and his Nephew Harrison Shepherd.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, June 23, 2023, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley. Friends may call Friday, June 23, 2023, 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
