Richard David Ruch

Richard David Ruch, born December 12, 1932 to the late Gale and the late Louise (Curless) Ruch died Friday March 23, 2018 at his home in Sweetser, IN. Dick graduated from Sweetser High School class of 1950. He was a life member of the Sweetser United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities, recently he attended Mt. Olive United Methodist Church. He attended Marion Business College where he met the love of his life Leona L. Holsten, they were married November 16, 1951 and share 66 years together.

Dick joined the U.S. Navy Reserve in 1951 and was called to active duty January 1952 and was sent to Jacksonville Naval Air Station to join the Air Squadron and served on the U.S.S. Tarawa Aircraft carrier patrolling the Mediterranean Sea 1952-1953.

After released from the Navy he returned to Sweetser where he built their home and raise 5 children. Nancy (Daniel) Gouin, Sweetser, David, deceased, Carol Koch, Tampa, FL Linda Snowart, deceased, Russell (Shelly) Ruch, Converse.

Sister, Barbara Ruch, deceased. Brother, Robert (Deloris) Ruch, Westville, IL. Grandchildren, Tony (Tracy) Goetz, Blutz, FL Clint (Casey) Dooley, Marion, IN Joni Dunning, Warsaw, IN Samantha Snowart, and Luke Snowart, grandson Jason Ruch, deceased. 7 Great Grandchildren.

Dick was an Electrician and a member of the IBEW Local 873. He had work with many contractors one of which was Moorehead Electric. He as co-owner with his wife Leona of the former Red Barn Restaurant in Marion, IN.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Great Lakes Hospice who gave great care to Dick during the last few days of his life.

Services for Dick will be Wednesday March 28, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Armes-Hunt Funeral and Cremation Services, College Park Chapel, 4601 S. Western Ave. Marion, IN with Pastor Rob Barton officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until service time at noon. As per Dick’s request cremation will follow.
