Richard D. Lower, 71, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 9:50 am, Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Vernon Health and Rehab in Wabash. He was born December 28, 1948 in Wabash, to James Richard and Ruthann (Lamm) Lower.
Richard was a Wabash High School graduate and a US Air Force veteran. He married Kathryn Carter in Hawaii on February 16, 2005. He worked 18 years for the Department of Corrections. He was a member of the Wabash Christian Church, Izaak Walton League, the Civil Air Patrol, and the Wabash County E.M.A. Richard enjoyed fishing, traveling, dogs, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Carter-Lower of Wabash, two children, Bryan (Bobbi) Harper of Elkins, West Virginia, and Susan (Doug) Hartman of Franklin, West Virginia, three step-daughters, Annette (Michael) Wright of Wabash, Amy (Andy) Eads of Lagro, Indiana, and Angela (Ryan) Iden of New Haven, Indiana, two step-sons James Lower of Missouri, and John Vajda of Arkansas, 12 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons, and his brother, Steve (Rose) Lower of Wabash. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services and burial will be at a later date at the Marion National Cemetery. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash.
