Raymond Arthur Martin, 91, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 9:33 am, Monday, August 21, 2023, at his home. He was born on September 23, 1931, in Wabash County, Indiana, to Wayne and Ophia (Eltzroth) Martin.
Raymond was a 1950 graduate of Wabash High School and a US Navy veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1956. He married Ruth A. Martin in Wabash on December 22, 1954; she died April 24, 2013. Raymond was a former member of Christ United Methodist Church in Wabash. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 15, where he served as past commander in 1965. He loved sports, tailgating at football games, was a Chicago Bears fan, and an avid Purdue fan. Raymond enjoyed honoring veterans, helping at Memorial Day events, and being a part of the color guard. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Legion, watching the kids in Little League, and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by three children, Diana Blair of Wabash, Linda (Scott) Haupert of Lagro, Indiana, and Gary Wayne Martin of Wabash; three grandchildren, Randall Brian (Leeanna) Sexton, Jr. of Marion, Indiana, Todd Mitchell Blair of Wabash, and Adara Sexton of Beech Grove, Indiana. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Rev. Nathan Whybrew officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4-7 pm Friday, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Wabash Little League.
