WABASH,Indiana – You might remember 30-year-old James Brandon Pinkerton of Wabash for an incident that has been deemed “the dump truck rampage” around Huntington on December 7th of last year. Pinkerton lead police on a high-speed chase in a dump truck, reaching speeds of 70 mph and almost hitting several cars in the process. As a result of that incident, Pinkerton accepted a guilty plea for possession of drugs, being intoxicated while behind the wheel and resisting law enforcement. He was sentenced to one-and-a-half years, with all but 180 days suspended. He reportedly only served 90 days of jail time for the incident.

There was another bizarre incident on Friday just north of Wabash on SR 15 near the Honeywell Golf Course which, according to authorities, involved the same James Brandon Pinkerton. MiBash News talked to Richard Simpson, Jr. on Friday who said he had turned onto SR 15 northbound from a side road just north of town when he noticed a man running a full speed southbound directly in his lane.

While Pinkerton’s backside did not actually come through the windshield, the glass is a total loss and his feet also apparently did damage to Simpson’s hood. When asked what happened next, Simpson told MiBash News that he rolled up his windows, locked his doors and called police.

Pinkerton then slid off Simpson’s car and started walking away. Witnesses on the scene told the man to get on the ground and wait for an ambulance to arrive. But according to Simpson, Pinkerton argued with the witness before running south towards Big R. Police quickly swarmed the area and Pinkerton was nabbed a short time later.

According to Wabash City Police Public Information Officer Matt Benson, Pinkerton was not booked into the Wabash County Jail but instead taken to Parkview Wabash Hospital for a medical evaluation. The Wabash City Police conducted the criminal investigation and submitted the evidence to the Wabash County Prosecutor to determine whether charges will be filed.
