Phoebe Jane Ridenour, 91, of Springfield, Illinois, formerly of rural Roann, Indiana, died at 5:15 pm, Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Centennial Point Assisted Living in Springfield. She was born January 15, 1928 in Wabash County, Indiana to Philip Sr., and Emma (Stouffer) Roser.
Phoebe was a 1947 graduate of Chippewa High School. She married L. Leon Ridenour in Wabash on February 24, 1948; he died October 13, 2014. She was a teachers aide several years, and also was the office manager at Farm Bureau Insurance in North Manchester, Indiana. Phoebe was a member of Bachelor Creek Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, needlepoint, gardening, and traveling.
She is survived by her daughter, Marcia L. (David) Heaps of Chatham, Illinois, two granddaughters, Manning Heaps of Springfield, Illinois, and Kelsey (Dalton) Lee of Fort Myers, Florida, eight brothers and sisters, Betty McKillip, Donald (Lois) Roser, Peggy Riggs, Marcella (Tom) Houlihan, Shirley Atkinson, Mary Alice (Fred) Reed, Carolyn (Don) Everest, and Robert Roser, all of Wabash. She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Carol Ridenour, three brothers, Vern Roser, James Roser, and Philip “Dan” Roser, Jr., and five sisters, Martha Shaffer, Katherine Clupper, Ardith Smith, Lois Fleshood, and Helen Hoppes
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Ken Goble officiating. Burial will be in Roann Community Cemetery, Roann. Friends may call 9:30-11:00 am Tuesday, at the funeral home.
