Phillis R. White

Phillis R. White, 63, of Sweetser, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at IU Health Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis. She was born in Lubbock, Texas, on Monday, March 3, 1958, to Larry and Mary (Underwood) Miller. On January 11, 1986, she married Rodney Lee White, and he preceded her in death on December 31, 2019.

Phillis graduated from Marion High School in 1976. She worked in the Grant County Clerk’s Office, where she was the Deputy Clerk. She had also worked in the purchasing department at Moorehead Communications in Marion for many years.

Phillis enjoyed watching Lifetime movies and playing solitaire. She liked being outside and camping with her family. More than anything, Phillis loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She always made time to attend their sporting events.

Survivors include her father, Larry Miller of Gas City; son, Matthew (Kaitlyn) White of Sweetser; grandchildren, Andrew White (and his mother, Mary King), Kaidan, Kennedy, Everly, Declyn, and Brody; sisters, Pam (Chris) Baldwin of Fort Wayne and Carol (Rodney) Stevenson of Fort Wayne; honorary daughters, Sarah and Cassidy Myers; several nieces, nephews, and friends; and her beloved dog, Leah.

In addition to her mother, Mary Mavaline Miller, and her loving husband, Rodney Lee White, Phillis was preceded in death by her son, Joshua “Josh” Lee White, and her sisters, Cathy Cummings and Darla M. Miller.

The family will receive visitors from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday, July 2, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
