Peru Food Pantry awarded Grant

PERU, IN- The Church of the Nazarene Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry was awarded a $3,000 grant for the purchase of an upright freezer, moveable shelving, and food. The pantry is open Friday mornings from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Peru and is run solely by volunteers, who order, pickup, sort, and serve food to an average of 200 community members each week.

“Much like the parable in which Jesus used modest resources to feed the multitude, Loaves and Fishes through the Church of Nazarene is working to address food insecurity in our community,” says Foundation Director Heidi Wright. “The Miami County Community Foundation is honored to help with this invaluable work.”

The Church of Nazarene is located at 331 W. 6th Street in Peru.
