Peru Firefighters hold Annual “Christmas for Kids” Event

PERU, Ind. – In early December, Peru Firefighters Local 383 held the annual “Christmas For Kids” event. Money was raised year-long through a 5K and other donations to build up a special account specifically set aside for this day.  Nearly $7000 was raised and spent on necessities to give a little help to 39 children from Miami County for Christmas. Toys for Tots also generously supplied toys for the young children. All the families were invited to the Old Firehouse and an authentic firefighter breakfast was prepared for them. Santa Claus made an appearance and each family was given the gifts already wrapped and ready to be placed under the trees at home. The department was very grateful for the support of this community and their goal is to grow the amount of families they can help out each year, and have already started raising money for Christmas 2018. If you would like to donate to this fund at any time throughout the year, money can be dropped off at either fire station in Peru. Once again, 100% of the money raised gets spent on Christmas necessities for local families.
