Peru Board of Public Works Met Thursday, September 16

Thursday evening, Peru Board of Public Works met at City Hall. The month of October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Theme is “Shine a Light on Domestic Violence”. The board approved to change light bulbs at City Hall and possibly change lamp posts to purple during the month of October.  Approved was the the street closure at Park Drive from Broadway to the Park Entrance for 5K/Walk on Saturday, October 15th from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. sponsored by the Peru Firefighters Local 383.  Officer Sam Finnegan was promoted from Patrolman to Lieutenant by the board.
Peru Police Chief Mike Meeks:
Lieutenant Sam Finnagan begins his duties Friday, September 16.  Street closures were approved by the board for History Day on October 1st, Bicentennial Torch Relay Day, from 10-3 on October 5th, and Downtown Peru Christmas Open House on November 16th.  The board approved for a trial of three months in front of the Peru Fire Station Number 1.  Kathryn Peck will have a give and take community pantry, with snacks, blankets, and etc. Volunteers are needed for this organization.
