Patricia L. Thornburg, 81, Marion, went to be with her Savior, Lord, Master, and King on February 29, 2016, at 10:37 a.m. at Colonial Oaks Health Care and Rehab Center, Marion. She loved her Lord so much and was blessed by Him in many ways.

Her husband of 39 years, Rev. Lee E. Thornburg, preceded her in death in 1993. She also had an infant son, Christopher Scott Thornburg, pass away. She was excited about joining them in heaven. Her parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children, Kevin Thornburg, Colorado Springs, CO, Kerin (Kenneth) Phillippe, Marion, Randolph (Rhonda) Thornburg, Gas City, and Bruce (Shawn) Thornburg, Indianapolis; 10 wonderful grandchildren, Joshua, Jennifer, Sarah, Jonathon, Kristopher, Nicole, Hannah, Adam, Valerie, and Victoria; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Zipper; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Mrs. Thornburg graduated from Huron High School in Huron, OH, in 1953 and Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS, in 1977. She was a member of Sunnycrest Baptist Church in Marion. Before the death of her husband, they served the Society of Friends as pastors in Kansas and Indiana, also serving as Ministers of Music at Jonesboro Friends Church.

Mrs. Thornburg was a past member of DART of Grant County until her husband’s illness. She served as Chairperson of the first Drug Summit held at Taylor University in 1992. She was also Craft Director at Quaker Haven Camp for four summers, a position she dearly loved.

Friends and family may call from 12-2 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Sunnycrest Baptist Church, 2172 W. Chapel Pike, Marion. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Don Miller and Pastor Terry Samples co-officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Gas City.
