One room schoolhouses tour announced


Wabash, IN- Visit Wabash County is pleased to announce the release of a historic tour.
The One-Room Schoolhouses Tour will go on sale to the public online and in person at
the Welcome Center on April 16 at noon. The tour will take place on Saturday, May 18
from 9 AMto12PM. This all-inclusive tour is limited to 34 people and the cost per ticket is
$30.
“I am thrilled to give people the opportunity to experience these historic relics and
explore the charm of the remaining structures,” said Jennifer Long-Dillon, tourism
manager for Visit Wabash County. “On the tour, we will get an inside look into two
schoolhouses and see more from a respectful and safe distance.”
Kick off your morning by meeting Jennifer and Daisy at the Welcome Center (home of
Trolley No.85) for hot coffee and spring tea from Modoc’s Market and cinnamon rolls
from Bailey’s Pizza Parlor. Hop on board Trolley No.85 and travel to the remains of the
Needmore School. You might encounter a lesson! Next head to the remains of Half
Acre School and hear an overview from Jennifer about education. The folowing stop is
the remains of the Freshour School where Wabash County Historian Ron Woodward will
share in-depth about one-room schoolhouses. The next stop is a mystery stop that will
offer you the chance to walk through a restored one-room schoolhouse. The
Puckerbrush Schoolhouse is the last historic stop. Explore this fully renovated
schoolhouse turned into a home. Return to the Welcome Center for shopping!

natural way to tell a piece of Wabash County’s history while connecting trolley riders to
the story of our past that surrounds us,” said Long-Dillon. “Terrell Realty recognizes the

The tour includes refreshments from Bailey’s Pizza Parlor and Modoc’s Market. Some of
the tour requires walking on uneven terrain. Please wear good walking shoes. The tour is
rain or shine.
