OJ Neighbours to host 29th Annual Reenactment

OJ Neighbours

WABASH COUNTY, Ind. – O. J. Neighbours will hold their 29th annual reenactment on Thursday, September 14th from 5:30 – 7:00pm in the David F. Sodervick Outdoor Learning Area located at the south end of the building.  Kindergarten students will be reenacting pioneer songs and dances.  First grade students will reenact pioneer games.  Second grade students will demonstrate Native American dances and blessings.  Third grade students will explain about Native American life.  They will explain about living in the wiki up, cedar longhouse, canvas longhouse, tipi and hogan.  Fourth grade students will demonstrate pioneer occupations and crafts, such as hunting, rope making, sewing and butter making.  The event is free, but donations will be gladly accepted, as they help fund all future reenactments.  In case of rain, the reenactment will be postponed until Tuesday, September 19th.

Due to the construction on Wabash Street, parking will be extremely limited this year.  The drive in front of the school is now a two way street, so there is no parking allowed in the front of the school.  There will be disabled parking in the north parking lot.  All others will need to park at the Field of Dreams where families can either walk the trail to the school or take the trolley or buses to the school beginning at 5:00PM.  Parking along the streets west of the school will be allowed as well.
