Multiple tornado reports on Monday; New Video of Tornado

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – More than 10 tornado reports came in from the storms that moved through Monday night.

The strongest storms and heaviest rain fell to the south of Fort Wayne. A significant tornado risk existed as the storms moved through, primarily from about 7:45 pm 9:45 pm.

During this timeframe, the tornado reports came in from west to east, affecting portions of Wabash, Grant, Whitley, and Wells Counties.

Areas near North Manchester (Wabash County), South Whitley (Whitley County), LaFontaine (Wabash County), Somerset (Wabash County), Jalapa (Grant County), and North Oaks (Wells County) experienced some of the strongest storm activity.

The Northern Indiana National Weather Service office will send a storm survey crew to affected areas beginning on Tuesday. This crew will be analyzing the storm damage to see if any tornadoes can officially be confirmed. If the damage shows rotation and evidence of tornadic activity, the survey crew will issue a report detailing likely storm path information. It may take up to a few days for the complete report to be issued and for us to receive any official confirmation of tornadoes that occurred.

This from local business owner Will Woodward in reference to the video above: “The video starts at 500 North and State Road 13, about 2 miles south of Somerset. I traveled east on 500 North to pursue”.
