Michael “Mike” Felabom

Michael “Mike” Felabom, 67, Claypool, Indiana, passed away at his home on October 27, 2022. The son of the late Gene and Margarett (Athurhultz) Felabom, Mike was born on February 3, 1955, in Wabash, Indiana.

After graduating from Manchester High School in 1973, Porky, as his friends called him, began working for his father at Gene’s Mobile Home Service. A few years later he began driving semi-truck before becoming manager at Penguin Point in Warsaw. In 1996 he went to work at Biomet in the stockroom, where he eventually became a tool designer and engineer before retiring in 2009.

During his younger years and prior to his health complications, Mike enjoyed fishing on Chapman Lake, hunting, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and riding his motorcycle. He also liked to smoke various meats and barbecue for friends and family. Mike was quite skilled with regard to woodworking and crafted many signs, cabinets, and other projects. He was also a member at Congregational Christian Church in North Manchester for many years. No matter his mood, Mike always had a soft spot in his heart for all of his cats.

The loving memory of Mike “Porky” Felabom will be forever cherished by his wife of sixteen years, Kathy Felabom, Claypool; stepsons, Benjamin (Tina) Kline, Otwell, and Jason Rhoades, Charlotte, North Carolina; stepdaughter, Brandi (Randy Hayes) Kline, Pendleton; niece, Krista (Gary) Cagle, North Manchester; two great-nephews, Justin (Journee Willard) Cagle and Andrew Cagle; two great-great-nieces, Paisley Grace Cagle and Remington Jo Cagle; sister, Carol Romack, Wakarusa; and grandchildren, Maxton, Macey, Marlee, Jevon, and Jacey. In 1972 Mike suddenly lost his brother Ronald Felabom in a motorcycle wreck. Mike was also preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Steve Romack.

Family and friends may call Monday, October 31, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, County Road 300 East and County Road 1000 North, Servia, Indiana.
