Michael J. Garrett

Michael J. Garrett, 74, of rural Wabash, Indiana, died at 8:25 pm, Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center in LaFontaine, Indiana. He was born on January 7, 1948, in New Castle, Indiana, to Thomas P. and Arnetta J. (Grogg) Garrett.

Mike was a 1966 graduate of Greenwood High School, and a graduate of the Indiana College of Mortuary Science. He married Tricia Robbins in Straughn, Indiana on September 5, 2004. Mike was co-founder of Garrett and Sloane Colonial Mortuary. He also was a longtime funeral director at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service. Mike enjoyed fishing and founded the Otter Creek Steelheaders Association. He also enjoyed antiquing, mushroom hunting, tinkering in his barn and watching football on television, especially the Indianapolis Colts. He loved his dogs, Bella, Brody Jo, Boone, and Buster.

He is survived by his wife, Tricia Garrett of Roann, Indiana; three children, Amy (Greg) Gibson and John Michael Garrett, both of Wabash, and Madison Garrett of North Manchester, Indiana; granddaughter, Makenna Gibson of Muncie, Indiana; and sisters and brother, Linda (Kimble) Booker and Sherry (Tom) Bradley, both of Greenwood, Indiana, Rick (Michelle) Garrett of Sherman, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Tom Garrett, sister-in-law, Val Garrett.

There will be a gathering to celebrate Mike’s life at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, at a later date. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash.

Preferred memorial is the Alzheimers Association.
