Miami County Man Hospitalized after being Stabbed Tuesday Night

MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. – On Tuesday, January 16, at approximately 5:56pm Miami County Central Dispatch received a call of a male trying to flag down cars in the area of Main and Wayne Street.  While officers were en route to the call, another caller advised the male may have been stabbed.  Officers arrived and observed a citizen applying pressure with a towel to the area of the wound of the male.  Upon officers opening the male’s outer clothing, a large amount of blood was observed on his clothing.  Once emergency medical staff from Dukes Memorial Hospital arrived, they began treatment of the male.  It was determined shortly after their arrival to Lifeline the victim to another hospital. The male was able to provide a possible suspect and an address in the 300 block of East Fifth Street where the stabbing had occurred inside the residence.  Officers were able to speak with multiple witnesses at the scene.  A search warrant was obtained for the residence.  Officers executed the search warrant at that residence, with the scene being processed and evidence secured. The victim was treated for a stab wound and remains hospitalized. The names of the victim and the suspect are being withheld at this time. The investigation is ongoing.  Anyone with any information about this case is encouraged to call the Peru Police Department at 765-473-2150, extension 114.
