Miami County Crash Leaves Four Injured

MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. – A Miami County crash at the intersection of U.S. 24 and Indiana 19 Tuesday left four people injured. At approximately 3:33 p.m. Tuesday, officers from the Indiana State Police, Peru Police Department and Miami County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two-vehicle crash at U.S. 24 and Indiana 19, after which two people were airlifted to Fort Wayne hospitals. A preliminary crash investigation by ISP Trooper Ben Reason revealed that Samantha Wray, 30, Peru, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on U.S. 24, approaching Indiana 19, according to an ISP press release. Bryce Boggs, 18, Peru, was driving a 2014 Toyota Corolla northbound on Indiana 19, approaching U.S. 24. Boggs attempted to cross U.S. 24 and pulled into the path of the westbound Chevrolet Malibu and was hit on the passenger’s side. Andrew Roberts, 19, Peru, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the rear passenger seat of the Corolla. Roberts and Boggs were flown, via medical helicopters, to Fort Wayne hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Drew Joseph, 30, Denver, also a passenger in the Corolla, was transported to Dukes Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Wray was also transported by ambulance to Dukes Hospital. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Boggs was cited for failure to yield the right of way, false or fictitious license plates, and failure to provide proof of insurance. Assisting at the scene were Peru Fire Department, Dukes Hospital EMS, the Miami County Sheriff’s Department, the Peru Police Department, and the Miami County EMA. The investigation is ongoing, noted the release.
