Melanie S. Arven

Melanie S. Arven, age 62 of Marion passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Marion.

Melanie was born on January 16, 1957 in Pontiac, Michigan the daughter of the late George and Mary (Grogan) Palmer.

She was a graduate of Marion High School and was the Queen of her class and was a cheerleader.  When she was younger, she was a Brownie and later as an adult she was a Girl Scout Troup Leader. Melanie took flying lessons at the Wabash Airport and held a recreational pilots license.  She was a loving mother of two beautiful girls who gave her 5 beautiful grandchildren.  Melanie worked as a pharmacy technician at Hook’s Drugs in Marion for 15 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Angela Arven and Amy (Darol) Sorah, both of Marion; sister, Jeanie Williamson of Upland; and 5 grandchildren, Brandon Arven, Kynzie VanDiver, Daiton Sorah, Akira Sorah and Draiden Sorah.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Christopher Kent Palmer and Johnny Ray Palmer; and sisters, Rebecca Lee Palmer, Marsha Lynn Crabtree and a baby sister that died at birth.

Friends and family may call from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.  Funeral Services will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Ron Forsythe officiating.
