Maxine R. Spicer

Maxine R. Spicer, 101, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at 1:10 a.m. at Oakbrook Village, Huntington, IN.

Mrs. Spicer was born on December 8, 1916, in Roanoke, IN, to Grover C. and Mabel Elizabeth (Baber) Salter. Her parents preceded her in death.  Mrs. Spicer married Raymond T. Ditto in 1938, and he preceded her in death in 1953.  Maxine then married Charles J. Spicer in 1963, and he preceded her in death in 1989.

Mrs. Spicer retired from Triad-Utrad in Huntington.   She had also owned The Point Restaurant in Delphos, OH, for many years.  She was a member of St. Peter’s First Community Church, Huntington, IN and the VFW Auxiliary #2689.

Maxine is survived by one sister, Joan M. Gates, Huntington, IN and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and two husbands, Maxine was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth C. Salter, D. DeWayne Salter; and one sister, Helen Scher.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 29, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.

A Funeral service will follow the calling hours on Monday, October 29, 2018, at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Raymond Scribner Officiating.

Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery, 9772 Ridge Road, Delphos, OH, 45833.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to VFW Aux. Post 2689 in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
