Mary Elizabeth Layman, 78, of Peru, Indiana, died at 1:44 pm, Monday, January 4, 2021 at Howard Community Hospital in Kokomo, Indiana. She was born January 24, 1942 in Peru, Indiana, to Harry and Betty (Williams) Vigar.
Mary married H.D. Layman in Marion, Indiana on June 28, 1961; he died May 3, 2016. She worked at McDonalds in Peru and had also worked at B. Walter in Wabash and Dexter Axle in North Manchester, Indiana. She was a member of the Fuel Church in Kokomo. Mary enjoyed shopping and camping.
She is survived by five children, Doug (Barbara) Roberts of Yuma, Arizona, Shelly (Michael) Bullins of Kokomo, Elizabeth Layman, Herschel (Jamie) Layman, and Penny (Kevin) Wohlford, all of Peru, 20 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, and four brothers, Don (Jackie) Vigar of Wabash, Bill (Debbie) Vigar of Bradenton, Florida, Bob (Bonnie) Vigar of Peru, Indiana, and Gary (Linda) Vigar of Fort Myers, Forida. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and son, Steven Roberts.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Monday, January 11, 2021, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash. Entombment will be in Ever Rest Memorial Park, Logansport. Friends may call 9:30-11:00 am Monday, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is the American Cancer Society.
