Mary Catherine King

Mary Catherine King, 86, Jonesboro, went to be with the Lord at 2:11 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.  Mary was a lifelong resident of Grant County and was born in Jonesboro on August 29, 1931, to the late Oliver Perry and Clara Alma (Orme) King.

Mary retired from Twin City State Bank (which later became Star Financial) and previously worked at the Chronicle-Tribune, License Branch, and Marion Municipal Utilities.  She enjoyed reading, traveling the United States, and spending time with her family.  Mary especially enjoyed holidays and special occasions with her family.  She also loved talking and telling stories about her life.  Mary attended Westview Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, David “Randy” Ford, Gail Ann Ford, Pamela (Rick) Detamore, Kathleen (Rob) Kiley, Linda (Richard) Eastes, Andy (Jenny) Cassidy, Jennifer (Jeff) Newlin, Susan (Doug) Kincaid, Amy (Ted Evans) Mitchener, Mike (Kelly) Pollen, Kenny (Karen) Pollen, Debbie Pollen, and Greg (Cindy) Pollen; 19 great-nieces and nephews; 15 great-great-nieces and nephews; and brothers-in-law, Phillip Mitchener and Dwight Pollen.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her siblings, Grace Ford, Betty Cassidy, Martha Mitchener, and Shirley Pollen.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

Services to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the funeral home with Rev. Bill Cornell officiating.  Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
