Marvin Leon Foland

Marvin Leon Foland, 82, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on September 9, 2021. He was born to parents, Fletcher L. Foland and Glenna (Lord) Arlene Foland, on February 24, 1939, in Marion, Indiana.

After Marvin’s graduation from Swayzee High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he earned the rank as Sergeant and served from 1959 to 1963. He served as a Commercial Banker for 40 years in Marion, Kokomo, Upland, and Warren. Marvin was a community leader and served on multiple boards and committees. He also belonged to multiple organizations such as Past President of the Swayzee Lions Club, Grant County Bankers Association, Dept. of Indiana Commandant, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Marine Corps League, Past Detachment Commandant Travis Detachment, Past President of Swayzee High School Alumni Association, member of the American Legion (Van Buren), and member of the Tripoli Detachment and Marine Corps League (Marion), just to name a few.

Marvin enjoyed traveling adventures with Tina, playing golf with his golfing buddies, and the beach. By his side through it all was his cherished and loyal cocker spaniel, Caesar.

Marvin will be greatly missed by his love and best friend, Tina Sneed Smith of Fort Myers, FL; daughters, Andrea (Kevin) Foland Sexton of Jonesboro, Dana Foland of Shelby, and Terri Foland of Asheville, NC; sons, Todd Foland of Gas City, Richard (Kara) Chadwick of Sarasota, FL, and Wesley Smith of Austin, TX; honorary daughter, Christy McNeely of Shelby; grandchildren, John (Samantha) Spencer, Jr., of Muncie, Jordan (Eddie) Bousum of Marshfield, WI, Joshua (Heather) Holloway of Rensselaer, Caleb (Miranda) Holloway of Morocco, Jessica (Tristin) Johnson of Oxford, Miles Madonna Klein of Asheville, NC, Michael “Beau” Klein, III, of Asheville, NC, and Nash Klein of Asheville, NC; and 14 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Swayzee Christian Church, 110 N. Washington St., Swayzee, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a memorial service to celebrate Marvin’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Eddie Bousum officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery in Greentown.
