Martha Eileen Snyder

Martha Eileen Snyder, 86, of Converse, IN. passed away at 1:51 P.M., Monday, July 16, 2018 at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Kokomo, IN. She was born in Peru, IN on November 19, 1931, the daughter of Walker and Marjorie Bishop Butt. Martha married Harold Snyder at Denver United Methodist Church on September 30, 1951 and he preceded her in death on December 24, 2012. Martha was a 1949 graduate of Jefferson Township High School, a member of the Amboy Friends Church and Harrison Homemakers Extension Club. More than just a homemaker, Martha helped Harold in all aspects of farming. Family and friends were very important to her and it showed in the love she put into baking and cake decorating she did for all occasions. She was a gifted seamstress who loved sewing for her girls. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a real joy in her life. Surviving is a daughter Anita Kay Rigel (John) of Indianapolis, son-in-law Marvin Higdon of Converse, brother Kenneth Butt of Peru, sister-in-law Mary Lou Butt of Macy; grandchildren Joshua Higdon of Portland, OR, Kristina (Ryan) Yoder of Bettendorf, IA, Nicholas (Janna) Higdon of Marion, Michelle (Adam) McCune of Jamestown, OH Amy (Daniel) Rodas of Indianapolis and Bradley Rigel of Fairfield, OH; great-grandchildren Reid and Ada Yoder, Alex and Allie Higdon, Tinsley and Mikaylyn McCune, Eliana and Adelina Rodas. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold, daughter Denise Higdon, infant brother Richard Butt, brother Robert Butt, and sister-in-law Dorothy Butt. A service celebrating the life of Martha E. Snyder will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Amboy Friends Church, 110 E. Pennsylvania St., Amboy with Pastor Dwight Elliott, Pastor Kenny Cole and Pastor Adam McCune officiating. Burial will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Amboy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to The Gideons International (PO Box 178, Kokomo, IN 46903) or Amboy Friends Church.
