Marshall Dean Martin

Marshall Dean Martin, 67, Marion, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis.  He was born in Richmond, CA, on October 14, 1951, to the late Buil and Myrtle (Newman) Martin.

Marshall graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1970.  He served in the Army Reserves from 1970-1976.  During his time in the military, on January 4, 1975, he married his loving wife, Shelley Diane Mitchell.  Following his military service, he worked for Strimmel and Hill Water Contractors, where he was a journeyman pipe fitter.  He received his plumbing contractor license through Strimmel and Hill by driving to Logansport weekly for four to five years.  When Strimmel closed its doors in 1979, Marshall opened Martin Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning in order to feed his family.

He was always a hard worker and, early in his career, worked two jobs at one time.  He was also a great family man and very selfless, taking care of others whenever needed.  Marshall loved sports and was especially a huge fan of Pete Rose, Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Reds, and Muhammad Ali.  He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

He is survived by his children, Eric (Colette) Martin, Noblesville, Rachel (Jack) Bishop, Marion, and Cody Martin, Marion; grandchildren, Madeline (John) Behrens, Jack, Claire, Sophia, Benjamin, Olivia, Samuel, Keira, Lincoln, Audra, and Elijah; great-grandchildren, Beau Behrens; brother, Linley (Jody) Martin, Upland; sister, Janet Martin, Sims; nephews, Craig Martin, Kyle Martin, Mindy Fisher, and Brandy Martin; and uncle, Virl Dean (Annelle) Martin, Louisville, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shelley, who passed on January 15, 2015; brothers, Larry Wayne Martin and Billy Martin; and sister, Julia Diana Martin.

The family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Services for Marshall will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018, at the funeral home with Perry Hovermale, III, officiating.  Burial will follow at Thrailkill Cemetery.
