Marie Kimes

Marie Kimes, 93, of Jonesboro, passed away at 3:59 pm on Friday, October 1, 2021, at Rolling Meadows Health & Rehabilitation Center in LaFontaine. She was born in Grant County in 1928 to William and Elsie (Freidenrick) Thode. She married Donald Leo Kimes, and he preceded her in death in 2011.

Marie was a graduate of Swayzee High School. She loved gardening, needle crafting, cooking, and baking. She was a proud farmer’s wife who dedicated her life to raising her family. In her final years, Marie found her true calling by bringing encouragement to others in the assisted living facility. She was a pleasant woman and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include her daughters, Pamela (Gary) Timmons of Swayzee, Christena Cramer of Peru, and Katherine (Allen) Cunningham of Swayzee; grandsons, Michael (Julia) Timmons, Nicholas (Heather) Cramer, and Kristopher (Missy) Bright; granddaughters, RaeAnne (James) Murphy, Amanda (Robert Barrientos) Bright, Jacklyn (Brad) Meyer, and Melissa (Luke) Bradford; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

The family will have private services to celebrate Marie’s life. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park in Marion.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Rybolt Chapel, 314 N. Washington St., Swayzee, IN.
