Maria I. Maldonado Sills, age 66, of Gas City, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne.
Maria was born on August 1, 1956, in Matamoros Tamaulipas, Mexico, the daughter of the late Benito Cadena Jasso and Maria Rodrigues. She married Clayton Sills on March 15, 1999, and he preceded her in death on October 1, 2008.
After the death of her parents, she raised her brothers and sisters. She loved to sing Old Christian songs, especially doing so to make people happy. Her life has always been about her family. Maria’s favorite food was watermelon.
She is survived by two sons, Hector Maldonado (Lisa Albertson), and Esequiel Maldonado (Rebecca); three daughters, Maria Alvarado (Pedro), Sara Maldonado (Angel Morocho) and Antonia Maldonado; brothers, Erasmo Cadena, Benito Cadena, Jr. (Maria) and Guadalupe Cadena (Rose); a sister, Margarita Cadena; grandchildren, Benito, Luwaysha, Carlos, Christopher, Jessica, Hector III and Korbin; and great-grandchildren, Paisleigh, Ava and Zha’kari.
Maria was also preceded in death by her twin sons, Benito and Carlos Maldonado; and a sister, Guadalupe Cadena.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Raven Choate Robinson Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jessica Folz officiating.
