Lillian Marie Weaver Faulkner

Lillian Marie Weaver Faulkner, 87, received her angel wings on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Miller’s Merry Manor Health Care Center in Marion, Indiana. She was born in Marion on July 4, 1933, to the union of Jasper and Opal Boatright Weaver.

Lillian accepted Christ at an early age at Allen Temple A.M.E. Church and served there faithfully. In 1952, she graduated from Marion High School. She was active in the Intramural Sports Program and played volleyball and basketball. In 1954, Lillian married Dr. James C.E. Faulkner and to this union were born three daughters: Cheryl Alise, Karen Sue, and Janie Marie.

In 1963, Lillian united with Greater Second Baptist Church and served in many leadership roles. She was President of the Crown Mass Choir, Co-chairwoman of the Deaconess Board, member of the Senior Usher Board, member of the Visitation Committee, Coordinator of Vacation Bible School, and Junior Department Sunday School Superintendent. Lillian loved to sing and truly had a servant’s heart. She was also a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the “Sounds of Grace” choir and taught Sunday School. When the Leighton Ford Marion Area Crusade came to town in the early seventies, Lillian really enjoyed serving as a counselor and singing in the Crusade Choir.

Lillian was employed at Thomson Consumer Electronics (formerly RCA) for 31 years. After her retirement in 1993, she worked part-time at A&M Childcare and Learning Center. Lillian also worked part-time as a food service worker for Marion Community Schools. She really enjoyed interacting with the students. Lillian also loved sports. She never missed watching the Pacers, Fever, Indianapolis Colts, or Indiana Hoosiers. She would often crochet afghans, scarves, and handbags as a hobby. Lillian also made the best caramel popcorn balls and potato salad ever! She was kind and compassionate to everyone she met. She raised three strong daughters and instilled in them the importance of faith in Christ, hard work, and higher education.
