Lena I. Lewis, 90, Jonesboro, passed away in her home at 10:08 pm on Monday, October 25, 2021. She was born in Ohio, on Friday, December 26, 1930, to Carl and Vesta (Coburn) Walker. She married Paul A. Lewis and he preceded her on July 1, 2008.
Lena graduated from McDermott High School and in later years worked in the office at World Gospel Mission. She loved her family and enjoyed her bingo scratch-offs. Up until just recently, she enjoyed doing Sudoku puzzles. Her pride and joy was her home. Her life’s work was her home and family. She enjoyed fishing and camping and was an excellent cook.
Survivors include her sons, Gary L. (Roxanne) Lewis of Jonesboro, Danny P (Triela) Lewis of Jonesboro; daughter, Patricia I (Rebecca E. Simmons) Byrd of Gas City; granddaughters, Amy, Sarah, Trista; and grandsons, Chad, Tommy, and Casey; and 8 great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Walker and Vesta Walker; husband, Paul A Lewis; and grandson, Joseph A Byrd.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main Street, Gas City, IN.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Lena’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 29, 2021, at the Needham-Storey-Wampner, Storey Chapel. Pastor Mick Simpkins will be officiating with burial following at Riverside Cemetery.
