Lee J. Richards, 93, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 2:30 pm, Monday, January 23, 2023, at his home. He was born on June 20, 1929, in Wabash, to Leroy Lee and Elva Marie (Lee) Richards.
Lee married Barbara G. Bartrum in Wabash on April 24, 1948; she died November 8, 2013. He worked for Sheller Globe in Montpelier, Indiana 28 years retiring in 1988. He then worked as a consultant for Chrysler Corporation and GenCorp, both in Detroit, Michigan. Lee was a former member of the Hanna Masonic Lodge of Wabash, the Fort Wayne Mizpah Shrine, the Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge, both of Wabash, and Etna Acres Golf Course. He enjoyed golfing, tennis, bowling, pickle ball, pool, ping pong, and shuffleboard.
He is survived by two children, Marilyn (Jack) Hoover of Syracuse, Indiana, and Bret (Nicki) Richards of Bloomington, Illinois; three grandchildren, Michelle Hoover of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Sara (John) DeVore of Antwerp, Ohio, and Ryan Richards of Fort Wayne; three great grandchildren; and his sister, Gwendolyn (James) McCallister of Ruskin, Florida. He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and one sister.
Friends may call from 1:00-2:30 pm Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave. Wabash. Private entombment will be in the Chapel of Remembrance Mausoleum at Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash.
