Larry G. Powell

Larry G. Powell, 69, of Marion, passed away in his home on Tuesday, February 2, 2021. A lifelong resident of Marion, Larry was born on July 8, 1951, to Orville G. and Sarah Mavis (McGuire) Powell. On September 5, 1970, he married his loving bride, Teresa Lyn Hiles, in Marion, and she preceded him in death on January 11, 2015.

Larry graduated from Marion High School and worked in construction over 40 years. He was a hard-working man and instilled that hard work ethic in his boys. He was generous to a fault and always sought to help others in whatever way he could. Larry loved spending time with family and friends, and he adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A few of his favorite phrases were: “Hey good lookin’, you’re lookin’ almost as good as me!”; “mind over matter”; “Smoooooth”; and “If you can’t be good, be like me!”

Survivors include his sons, Brett (Anita) Powell of Marion and Ryan (Chrissy) Powell of Marion; grandchildren, Sam, Wyatt, Madison, Tyler, Kaitlyn, and Alyssa; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Liam, Deakon, and Demi; brother, Paul (Charlene) Powell; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife of 44 years, he was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mark Powell; and sister, Gail Bookout.

A memorial visitation for Larry will take place from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at Hillside Wesleyan Church, 2510 S. Home Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a memorial service to celebrate Larry’s life will begin at 12:00 noon.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
