Larry A. Lewis

Larry A. Lewis, 85 and 7 months, Gas City, passed away in his home on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. He was born in Jonesboro, Indiana, on Monday, May 17, 1937, to Leonard and Millicent (Linville) Lewis.  He married Bonnie Lou Marks and she preceded him.  

Larry graduated from Mississinewa worked at Owens-Illinois, retiring in 2001. He was a member of Twin City Bible Baptist Church . He was a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association. He was an avid collector, self-described as having “collections of collections”.  He enjoyed bird watching, rock hunting, gardening, wildlife enthusiast, woodworking and gun-smithing. He also participated for many years with Mississinewa 1812.  

Survivors include his daughter, Jeanne (John) Huff of Hartford City; grandsons, Colt (Lindsey) Cansler of Roanoke, Parker (Marika) Wormgoor of Carmel, Alex (Stephanie) Huff of Hartford City, Travis (Jessica) Huff of Hartford City; several great-grandchildren; brother, Robert A. (Margaret) Lewis of Marion; nieces, Sharon Wells and Lori Soule.

He was preceded in death by parents, Leonard and Millicent Lewis; wife, Bonnie Lou Lewis; and brothers, John Herbert Lewis and Don E Lewis.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Larry’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Thomas Rittichier officiating.  Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
