WABASH – A LaFontaine man has been ordered to raze a home he owns in Wabash.
The Wabash Board of Public Works and Safety gave the man, James R. Ward, 60 days to demolish a structure at 1036 Coble St. If not, the city will tear down the home and take steps to be reimbursed by Ward.
The home was damaged by a March 2015 fire and has sat vacant since, Building Commissioner John Stephens told the board.
Coble told the board that his son had expressed interest in buying the home from him, fixing it and then reselling it.
However board members, after looking at photos taken at the site last week, determined the structure was too damaged to be saved.
In other matters, the board approved special event applications for the Shop With a Cop Motorcycle Ride in August, the Waldo and Steve Brandt Ride in September, and a 5K Breast Cancer Run in October.
